Introduction: This program is tailored to develop library leaders in New England. This program aims to equip library professionals with essential strategic thinking skills to effectively navigate the evolving landscape of libraries. This program is being offered through Library Leaders in New England (LLINE) a nonprofit organization to support libraries.
Program Purpose: The primary objective of the program is to prepare library leaders across New England to tackle the challenges and changes confronting libraries today and in the foreseeable future. By fostering strategic thinking capabilities, and foundational leadership principles, participants will be empowered to lead their institutions proactively and innovatively. Facilitators: The program will be facilitated by Maureen Sullivan, a distinguished leader, educator, and organization development consultant in the library profession. Maureen brings a wealth of experience, having served as president of both the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and the American Library Association (ALA). Joining her as co-facilitators will be Deb Hoadley, Library Consultant for Hoadley Consulting and Mary Danko, Library Director for the Fletcher Free Library in Burlington, VT. Together they will bring diverse expertise and insights enriching the participants’ learning experience. Program Description: The Strategic Leadership Development Program is a comprehensive initiative including a three-day in-person event, November 18-20, 2024, followed by eleven months of virtual learning opportunities. The in-person component will be hosted at Rolling Ridge in North Andover, MA. This venue provides an immersive learning environment conducive to collaboration and networking. The virtual sessions, scheduled monthly, will offer extended leadership training through various activities such as article/book discussions and keynote presentations by subject matter experts. Application Process: The program is open to library employees from public, academic, school, and special libraries within New England who aspire to assume leadership roles within the profession at local, state, and national levels. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential, have least 5 years of successful work experience in libraries, and exhibit dedication to the library profession. While an MLS/MLIS is not mandatory, a commitment to professional growth is essential. A maximum of 25 participants will be selected based on the strength of their applications. DEADLINE IS JULY 1, 2024! APPLY TODAY! Our goal is to let applicants know by August 1st if they are being accepted into the program. Cost: The cost of the year-long program is currently $950.00. We are working with a few organizations to be funding partners and hope to bring this cost down by the time the first payment is due. |
